Fourth of July Holiday Schedules
Longmont city government observes the Independence Day holiday on Friday, July 3. Most City facilities will be closed. The Longmont Recreation Center will be open by reservation from 6 am to 2 pm and from 3 to 7 pm on July 3 and from 7 am to noon on July 4. Centennial Pool will be open by reservation from 6 am to 4 pm on July 3 and closed on July 4. Sunset Pool will be open by reservation from 6 am to 5:30 pm on July 3 and from 6:45 am to 5:45 pm on July 4 (no masters swim). The Waste Diversion Center will be closed July 3 and 4.

In January, the Longmont City Council approved a contract with LPM –Longmont Public Media – to provide Public, Educational and Governmental video services for the community on Comcast Channel 8. Memorial Weight Room Open to Seniors
The St. Vrain Memorial Building at 700 Longs Peak Avenue has opened the weight room to patrons age 55 and older. By reservation only, seniors can register for one-hour time slots from 8 to 11 am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Recreation passes, SilverSneakers® and RenewActive™ memberships are accepted, or guests can prepay a drop-in fee. Make “Trashion” in Library Online Program 
The average American produces over 1,700 pounds of trash per year. The Library is asking residents to showcase other uses for some of that garbage with its online “Trashion Show” program, beginning Monday, June 29. In this all-ages program participants create stylish clothing and accessories from recycled materials such as bubble wrap, plastic and cardboard. If you need good, clean trash, pick up a bag of fashion trash at the curbside delivery station on the Library’s east side from 10 am to 4 pm Monday through Saturday. Adults, teens, and children can work individually or in teams, then submit designs via email by July 13 for display on the Library’s social media pages. Adopt-a-Park with Your Group or Business
Volunteers are needed for the Parks, Open Space and Trails Adopt-a-Park program at the new Dickens Farm Nature Area on Boston Avenue between Main and Martin streets. The Adopt-a-Park program welcomes individuals, community groups and businesses to sign up to spend at least one day per month at the nature area picking up trash and debris, cleaning up shelters and play areas, and reporting vandalism, nonfunctioning lights or other damage to the area. If It Leaves the Ground, It’s Illegal!
If your fireworks leave the ground, they’re illegal. Please allow Police and Fire to focus on priority calls for service, and be considerate of neighbors, veterans and pets.
