Longmont Seeks Requests for Proposals for 2020 Human Service Agency Funding
The City of Longmont is seeking requests for proposals from private or public, nonprofit or for profit, nongovernmental or governmental agencies that serve Longmont residents. Agencies must serve primarily low- and moderate-income Longmont residents. Free Summer Lunch Program Returns
Through a collaboration between the St. Vrain Valley School District and Longmont’s Children, Youth and Families Division, free summer meals will be provided in Longmont Monday through Thursday through July 25. These locations will serve hot lunches to children, youth and adults: Rothrock Dell Park, Carr Park, and the Longmont Youth Center in Longmont, and Coal Miners Park in Erie. Free Rockies Skills Challenge
Youth ages 6 to 13 as of December 31, 2019, can compete in throwing, running and hitting at the free Rockies Skills Challenge from 9 to 10:30 am on Saturday, June 15, at the Sandstone Ranch ball fields, 2525 E. Highway 119 (take the Zlaten Drive exit near Walmart). Boys and girls compete separately in four age divisions, and winners in each age and gender group advance to a sectional, then the state competition. Kids’ Movies at the Museum
Stay cool in the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium with a bag of popcorn, and don’t worry if your kiddo cries in the middle of the movie. Kids’ movies are at 10 am on Tuesdays from June 18 through July 30. Tickets are $2 and get you $1 off the “Ruckus Rodeo” exhibit. These movies sell out! Beginning Plants: Workshop and Walk
Join Parks, Open Space, and Trails plant ecologists from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday, June 22, at Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive, for a fun morning of plant ID. We’ll start in the classroom to learn about flower parts and basic plant key use. Then, we’ll walk outside to practice keying out native flowers and shrubs. EV Chargers Improving on the Double
Longmont is getting new electric vehicle chargers – and they’re twice as nice! The four City-owned EV sites will have new ChargePoint Level 2 charging stations that can handle two cars at once when space is available, allowing customers access to one of the largest charging networks in the U.S. The upgrade will take place the first week of July at the Longmont Museum, the Longmont Service Center, the St. Vrain Memorial Building, and the 300 East Main parking lot. Drivers should make alternate plans while the stations are being replaced. Customers should download the ChargePoint app; the old EV Connect app will not be usable after the replacement.
