Events & Happenings

Longmont Symphony Orchestra

Join the Longmont Symphony Orchestra and the Museum in a celebration of the birth of American classical music Thursday, March 12 at 7 pm. Dvořák’s American Quartet (1893) inspired American composers to create music reflecting their own culture. Gershwin’s “Lullaby” (1919) was an earliest attempt, while Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” expressed the country’s simplicity and optimism (1944). Buy tickets at Longmont Museum online or by calling 303-651-8374.

Art & Sip: Spring Vegetable Watercolor

Enjoy a spring veggie harvest early with this watercolor painting class at the Longmont Museum Thursday, March 12 at either 4 pm or 6:30 pm. Use watercolor to create your favorite vegetables in a simple fresh style. Learn more and register at Longmont Museum online or by calling 303-651-8374.

Recreation Pass Offer for YMCA Members

The City of Longmont is offering a limited-time discount on recreation passes for YMCA members. These discounted passes must be purchased by March 31. Learn more about this offer – and other ways to stay fit and active in Longmont – at Longmont Recreation Center online.

Exact Change for City Cash Payments

Because the U. S. Department of the Treasury has stopped producing pennies, the City can no longer provide exact change for cash transactions. When paying in cash, please bring the exact amount. Otherwise, your payment will be rounded up to the nearest nickel and any difference of $0.01–$0.04 will be credited to your account. Questions? Call 303-651-8416.

Keep Our Waterways Clean This Spring

Spring is near, which means it’s time to think about your Spring Cleaning lists. This year, clean around your home with our waterways in mind. Keep harmful algal-causing car washing detergents out of our streams by washing your car at a commercial car wash, compost any yard clippings, and pick up your pet waste. Learn more about keeping our waterways clean at Keep it Clean Partnership online.
