Would You Like to Serve Your Community?
Residents are invited to serve as official advisors to Longmont City Council on several boards and commissions. The boards help City Council learn about and make decisions on a wide variety of issues that affect the safety, economy, and quality of life of Longmont’s residents and businesses. As a member of these committees, residents research and discuss local issues and offer their recommendations to City Council. To apply, you must be a registered voter of Longmont for at least one year prior to being appointed, and you must reside inside Longmont city limits. Shock Art Call to Artists
Art in Public Places will accept submissions for 2019 Shock Art designs between March 30 and April 8. Submissions will be exhibited April 12-20 at the Old Town Marketplace, 332 Main Street. Community members are encouraged to vote for their favorite designs, and three winning artists will be awarded a commission to paint their design onto a City switchgear box. Open House on East Longmont Improvements
Drop in any time between 4 and 6 pm on Wednesday, March 20, at the Fire Station #3 Community Room, 1000 Pace Street, for an open house to learn about work planned in 2019 on Phase 2 of the Spring Gulch #2 Greenway and on County Line Road improvements between Spring Gulch #2 and 17th Avenue. Free Volunteer Social
If you like nature, Longmont history, wildlife, people, crafting with kids, and being at Sandstone Ranch, join Recreation staff from 8:30 to 10 am on Saturday, March 23, at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. Enjoy snacks while you learn about the joys of volunteering at the historic Coffin family home. Guided History Tours at Sandstone Ranch
Enjoy a 90-minute guided indoor and, weather permitting, outdoor tour of the historic Morse Coffin family home on Saturday, March 23, at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. Learn about the home’s early history and major renovation to the house in the 1900s, and everything that Sandstone Ranch offers our community now. All ages are welcome. Tours are offered at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. Register by calling 303-651-8404. There is a $2/child, $4/adult suggested donation collected at the event. Get Water-Wise Through Landscape Seminars 
Each spring, Resource Central partners with the City of Longmont and other water providers throughout the Front Range to host a month-long Water-Wise Landscape Seminar Series focused on low-water landscaping and other sustainable gardening practices. These seminars connect residents with local industry professionals who share their tricks of the trade and empower attendees to embark on their very own do-it-yourself landscape projects. Make a Literary Diorama with PEEPS 
The PEEPS® are returning to the Library! For the fourth consecutive year, library patrons will create dioramas depicting their favorite literary scenes using marshmallow PEEPS as the figures. Dioramas, along with completed entry forms (available on the library website) can be delivered to the Library at 409 4th Avenue from Thursday, April 4, through Thursday, April 11. The dioramas will be displayed in the Library lobby from Friday, April 12, through Thursday, April 18, and the public is invited to vote for their favorite.
