Curbside Composting Changes
Significant changes to what is accepted in curbside composting containers takes effect April 1, 2023. Only loose yard debris and food scraps will be accepted in curbside compost containers. Residents may use a green 3-gallon or smaller CMA-approved bag for food scraps. Compostable products are no longer accepted in curbside containers, including; cups, glasses, utensils, paper bags, paper towels, pizza boxes, cardboard (place in recycle cart), shredded paper, coffee filters and k-cups. Teen Poetry Writing Workshop
Students in grades 6-12 are invited to join local poet Oliver Baez Bendorf for the Cosmic Keyhole Poetry Salon. This is a FREE writing workshop, held from 2-4 pm on Saturday, April 1 in the Library’s outdoor reading garden. We will delve into the art and craft of poetry in a fun, inspiring and creative environment (with pizza)! No poetry writing experience required, only a willingness to do it anyway. Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra
The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra returns to the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium on March 31 and April 1 at 7 pm. Both performances are dedicated to one of Hollywood’s most hallowed fools, Harold Lloyd. Register for Summer Fun
Keep busy and active this summer! Recreation & Golf Services’ 2023 summer activities brochure can be viewed online at the Recreation webpage and print copies will be mailed to Longmont residents the week of April 3. Student Intern Police Officer program
Do you know a college student interested in becoming a police officer? The Student Intern Officer (SIO) program allows college students who are interested in criminal justice careers to experience a practical work environment. SIOs are primarily assigned to the patrol division, but can also be given opportunities to serve in other divisions. The application deadline is April 1 for summer and fall semesters.
