This Week in Longmont – March 3, 2017
“I Know a Man: Ashley Bryan”
Enjoy a screening of “I Know a Man: Ashley Bryan” and Q&A with film director Richard Kane at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, March 7, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. This is the story of a beloved 93-year-old artist who skips and jumps in his heart like a child, yet is a spiritually deep creative genius and poet/illustrator of more than 50 children’s books and a maker of magical puppets and sea glass windows inspired by his African heritage. Admission is free and open to all ages, but call 303-651-8411 for a reservation.
Discovery Days to Go at the Library
Miss Elaine is bringing fun and fast crafts from the Longmont Museum’s Discovery Days program to the Library at 409 4th Avenue from 10 am to noon on Tuesday, March 7. Children ages 2 to 6 with an accompanying adult are invited to craft, color, cut, and create before or after storytime. This month’s theme is “Our 5 Senses.” No registration required.
Methamphetamine Use and Landlord Liability
Methamphetamine continues to be a prevalent abuse problem. Meth-affected property regulations went into effect in December 2014, and since then, Mike Richen of Boulder Public Health and Michelle Cogswell of Longmont Code Enforcement have worked with landlords on remediation for meth-affected rental properties. Come hear this presentation from the Longmont Landlord Alliance on what assessment and remediation steps a landlord should – or must – take from 6:30 to 8:15 pm on Wednesday, March 8, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. For more information call 303-774-4384 or email Susan.Spaulding@LongmontColorado.gov.
