Be Ready for Curbside Tree Limb Collection
The City offers free annual curbside collection of tree limbs. To participate, place limbs in front of your home, curbside of street, by 7 am on the Monday of your scheduled start week. Limbs will be collected at residences north of 9th Avenue the week of April 3 and at residences south of 9th Avenue the week of April 10. Stack limbs in piles no larger than 3-feet wide and cut to lengths of 6 feet or less. No limb can be larger than 6 inches in diameter. Oversized piles will not be collected. Help “Clean-up, Green-up” Longmont
You’re invited to help spruce up the city! Volunteers can pick a park, greenway, street, alley or open space to clean up, or an area can be assigned. The Grand Kick-Off for the month-long campaign is from 7:30 to 10:30 am on Saturday, April 8, at Sunset Campus, 7 S. Sunset Street. Ralph Price Reservoir Fishing Permits
Annual fishing permits for Ralph Price Reservoir go on sale on Monday, April 3. A Colorado Parks & Wildlife fishing license is required at all City of Longmont fishing areas. An additional permit from the City of Longmont is required at Ralph Price Reservoir inside Button Rock Preserve. Permits will be on sale in Longmont and Lyons at a cost of $20 for City of Longmont and Town of Lyons water utility customers, and $30 for non-utility customers. Challenge a Master to a Game of Chess
Do you think your child has what it takes to checkmate a champion? Find out at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue, from 7 to 8 pm on Monday, April 3, when master-level chess player Joshua Romero accepts match challenges from all comers age 18 and younger. Romero will play simultaneous matches for the hour, and all challenges will be accepted. This program is a special feature of the Library’s Chess Club, but it’s open to all who are interested in watching or playing. Registration is not required.

Register for Day Camp and Summer Fun
Keep your children busy this summer! The City of Longmont’s summer 2017 Recreation & Golf Services’ activities brochure was delivered to your Longmont mailbox last week and also can be viewed online. This edition features classes, camps and special events from mid-May through August. Summer-long day camp and contracted camp registration is underway and ongoing, and registration for other youth and adult summer offerings begins Tuesday, April 4. Landlord Alliance: Hot Topics in Fair Housing
From 6:30 to 8:15 pm on Wednesday, April 12, attorney Deb Wilson will discuss policy changes coming from HUD and provide timely and helpful information for landlords and property managers regarding fair housing. Water Rebate for Low-income Households
The City of Longmont provides a partial rebate of the previous year’s water charges for Longmont residents who qualify for LEAP (Low-Income Energy Assistance Program) and pay the City directly for their water bill. Applications are accepted through April 15, and the rebate will appear as a credit on your City of Longmont utility bill if you qualify. Find more details and apply online at bit.ly/water-rebate. Register for “Plastic Purge” at the Library
Author and ecologist Michael SanClements is on a mission to greatly reduce the amount and variety of plastics we encounter and use in our everyday lives, and he’s written a book to help us understand why and how to do so. SanClements will appear at the Longmont Public Library at 409 4th Avenue from 7 to 8 pm on Thursday, April 13, to share the stories, science, and suggestions behind his book “Plastic Purge: How to Use Less Plastic, Eat Better, Keep Toxins Out of Your Body, and Help Save the Sea Turtles.” Register online at bit.ly/LibPrograms. Citywide Spring Sweep Begins in April
