How Do Books and Brews Go Together?
Books and beer may not seem like a natural marriage, but the Longmont Public Library is changing that with its new series “Books & Brews.” The next program is from 2 to 3 pm on Saturday, March 14, at Collision Brewing Company, 1436 Skyway Drive. Join a Longmont librarian and other book lovers and beer lovers to delve into what good books taste like and examine the literary qualities of beer. This is not a traditional book club; participants will focus on how beer can highlight the reading experience, and vice versa. No registration required, and no purchase is necessary. Ages 21 and older only.

Spirit of Arbor Day Tree Sale
In honor of Colorado Arbor Day, Forestry Services is coordinating a tree sale by reserved purchase only. From March 16 through April 10, residents can reserve their trees online at LongmontColorado.gov/Forestry or by calling 303-651-8416. A variety of trees will be available at the below-wholesale cost of $80 each. This sale is limited to Longmont residents with a two-tree-per-person limit. Trees can be picked up on Saturday, April 18, at the City’s Sunset Campus, 7 S. Sunset Street. There will be no on-site sales. Forestry staff will be on hand to answer questions about planting, pruning, pests and more.

Check Your Ash!
Emerald ash borer (EAB) was discovered in Longmont in 2016. The most destructive forest pest of North America is proving to be just as destructive in Longmont, and the western half of the city is infested. Property owners in Longmont need to determine if they have an ash tree and make plans either to protect the tree from EAB with regular pesticide treatments or to remove the tree. Ash trees that die from EAB become very brittle, unpredictable, and unsafe for arborists to climb. If left untreated, all ash trees will become infested with EAB. Please take action while you can.
