Scam Targeting Longmont Businesses
Local businesses are receiving calls from a 505 area code stating that all commercial businesses are subject to a new state requirement for an upgraded electric meter, and a temporary charge of $800 is being levied per a notification mailed the previous week. They state that the amount will be credited back on the next billing cycle once the business is in compliance. Those calling the number back are greeted by, “Thank you for calling Longmont, your power provider.” This is a scam. Do not provide the caller with any payment information. If you receive this call, please call 303-651-8501 and file a police report.

Library Robot to make Public Debut at Denver ComicCon
If you haven’t met Bibli yet, you’re not alone, but don’t worry because the previously camera-shy robot will be making his big public debut at Denver’s ComicCon on Saturday, May 23, between 2:15 and 7:15 pm. Bibli will be greeting his fans, and taking selfies with his admirers. Fans who post those selfies to Twitter (#IMetBibli) will automatically be entered to win cool ComicCon-related prizes. Bibli is the result of nearly a year of collaboration between the Longmont Public Library and ROBAUTO, a local robotics engineering firm that has contributed the design and build of the robot. With a generous grant from CAN’d Aid, Oskar Blues’ nonprofit grant-making arm, the Library and ROBAUTO created Bibli to assist children on the Autism spectrum practice social skills and engage in the Library.
