City Closures on Monday
Longmont city government observes the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25. The following facilities will be CLOSED: Civic Center, Service Center, Development Services Center, Museum, Library, Senior Center, Youth Center, Waste Diversion Center, St. Vrain Memorial Building and Centennial Pool. The Longmont Recreation Center will be open from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunset Pool will be open from 10 am to 5 pm. The library is closed May 23-25. All trash and recycling will be collected one day later than usual during this week. If you have questions about the collection schedule, call 303-651-8416. Coffee with Council
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, May 30, at the OUR Center, 250 3rd Avenue. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice. Council members Polly Christensen and Bonnie Finley are scheduled to attend. Longmont to Host Presentation on Airport Noise Complaints
The City of Longmont will host a public presentation on the legal limitations of regulating noise at Vance Brand Municipal Airport on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Longmont Senior Center located at 910 Longs Peak Avenue. Rather than taking questions from the audience, questions will be answered from those submitted in advance. Questions can be submitted to Longmont Airport Manager David Slayter via email at David.Slayter@LongmontColorado.gov. All questions must be submitted no later than Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 4 pm.

HOA Training: Fair Housing and Other Acts
This workshop will focus on discrimination under the FHAA, particularly with respect to disabled persons and the need for associations to grant “reasonable accommodations” and “reasonable modifications.” Real-life examples and actual scenarios will illustrate when they must be provided. You also will discuss when the Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal regulations affect HOAs. HOA board members, property managers and residents are invited to attend this free presentation from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, May 28, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. Try a Tri! It’s Time for the 35th Longmont Triathlon
Join Longmont Recreation & Golf Services with our title sponsor Altitude Physical Therapy for a weekend of festivities with the Kids Only Triathlon and Try-a-Tri events on Saturday, May 30, and the Longmont Triathlon on Sunday, May 31. Business Plan Essentials for Small Business
The Small Business Development Center, in partnership with the Longmont Area Economic Council and the City of Longmont, will offer a workshop to help small business owners develop or refine their business plan. This class will be held from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday, June 2, at the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce at 528 Main Street, and it’s free to prospective and existing small businesses in Longmont. Basic Handgun Safety and Shooting Course
The next basic handgun class at the Longmont Police and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Firing Range is from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday, May 30. Learn how to safely store, carry and shoot firearms through a combination of classroom and practical exercise. It is appropriate for the beginner to intermediate shooter and exceeds state standards for a concealed carry permit.
