City Council to Review Costco Proposal
The Longmont City Council, during its November 17 regular meeting, will consider an economic development agreement designed to attract a new Costco retail store to the city. Costco proposes to build a 150,000-square-foot retail store and fueling station east of and adjacent to the Harvest Junction South retail and residential development. Longmont: The First 150 Years
A new book by Longmont Museum Curator of History Erik Mason that commemorates the 150th anniversary of Longmont’s founding is now available in the Longmont Museum Gift Shop at 400 Quail Road. Through text and nearly 300 historic photographs, it tells the stories of people who have called Longmont home. Discover Longmont’s origins as the Chicago-Colorado Colony, its development as an agricultural hub, and the transition to today’s high-tech center. Play Lotería Mexicana/Mexican Bingo
Families are invited to another fun, virtual session of the Longmont Library’s bilingual Lotería Mexicana/Mexican Bingo from 4 to 5 pm on Saturday, November 21. Players must supply their own “chips,” but the Library provides the Lotería game boards. This online, bilingual program is free, but registration is required. Free Landfill Drop Day
The City of Longmont offers residents an opportunity to take one level pickup load free of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Rd 5 in Erie from 7 am to 2 pm on Saturday, November 14. Loads must be covered and secured for transport; oversize loads and second loads will be billed accordingly. Please take a photo ID and a copy of your current utility bill to show that you are a City of Longmont customer. For more information visit LongmontColorado.gov/WasteServices or call 303-651-8416. Due to uncertainty related to COVID-19, please confirm before traveling to the landfill that this event is taking place as scheduled.
Are You Smarter Than a Librarian?
From 7 to 8:30 pm on Monday, November 23, the Longmont Library will premiere the new program “Are You Smarter than a Librarian?” This interactive, online trivia game for adults and older kids is moderated by a Longmont librarian. Protect Yourself from Identity Theft
Join Longmont Police Detective Steve Desmond from 8:30 to 10 am on Wednesday, December 9, for a virtual workshop on how to protect your identity. You’ll learn about different types of identity theft and what to do if your identity is stolen, as well as how to spot and prevent several types of fraud.
