Longmont Named a Top Digital City
The City of Longmont has been named one of the top Digital Cities in America according to The Center for Digital Government (CDG) a national research and advisory institute focused on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government. Now in its 19th year, the CDG annual survey recognizes cities using technology to tackle social challenges, enhance services, strengthen cybersecurity, and more. Read the news release.

Get Your Holidays Started Downtown 
The annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 6:30 pm on Friday, November 29, in 6th Avenue Plaza at the intersection at 6th Avenue and Main Street. This year’s celebration features music, family craft activities, hot drinks and treats, and giveaway bags for the first few hundred guests. Santa will be there, and we’ll end the fun by lighting the big tree at Main Street. The fun continues the next day for Small Business Saturday on November 30 with ice carving in St. Stephen’s Plaza, holiday characters giving away free t-shirts, and prize drawings at participating businesses. City Schedules for Thanksgiving Holiday
Longmont city government observes the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29. On Thursday all City facilities will be CLOSED except for special hours at the Longmont Recreation Center (see below). On Friday all facilities will be closed except recreation facilities, all of which will be open regular hours. The Waste Diversion Center will be closed through November 30. Thursday trash, recycling and composting will be collected on Friday.

Thanksgiving Day “Fitness Buffet”
The Longmont Recreation Center at 310 Quail Road will be open for a “Fitness Buffet” from 7 to 11 am on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28. Patrons age 14 and older can choose from a variety of fitness classes, use the cardio machines and weight room, and swim laps. There will be no babysitting, climbing wall, open gym or free swim. Regular admission fees apply, and passes are accepted. You’re also invited to bring a canned food item for the OUR Center. Special Storytime with Airborne Dance
Airborne’s Dance Tour Ensemble returns to the Library, 409 4th Avenue, from 10:15 to 11 am on Tuesday, November 26. Enjoy school break fun with a special dance-focused storytime. Dancers will perform and demonstrate the three basics of dance movement: time, space, and energy. Bring your dancing shoes for lots of dance games. This is an all-ages program, and no registration is necessary.  

5th Annual Longmont Museum Holiday Show
The Longmont Museum’s holiday tradition continues on Saturday, December 7. At either the matinee performance and Santa reception beginning at 2 pm or the evening performance beginning at 5:30 pm you’ll enjoy songs of the season and holiday cheer from some of the finest musicians in the region, including the Longmont All Star Jazz Band, the Rocky Mountain Ringers, and songstress Ayo Awasika. Shop for special gifts in the silent auction of curated Colorado experiences before each show. Admission is $20, $15 for students and seniors, and $12 for members. Be Part of the “Joy to the World” Parade
It’s time to plan your Longmont Lights parade float! Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your organization in lights at 5 pm on Saturday, December 14, during the annual Holiday Parade on Main Street. All parade entries are eligible for prizes. Youth Center Homework Help
Does your 6th-12th grader need some extra support staying on top of their schoolwork? The Longmont Youth Center collaborates with St. Vrain Valley School District teachers to offer homework assistance and tutoring from 4 to 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, on days that school is in session. This program is free, but your child must have a completed Youth Center membership form on file; find the form at bit.ly/cyfzone.
