Learn about the City’s New Curbside Composting Service
Much has been reported about the City’s new voluntary curbside composting service, set to begin in the spring of 2017. From 7 to 8 pm on Tuesday, November 15, the Library will present “Demystifying Curbside Composting” to help you separate fact from fiction. Composting experts from the City and EcoCycle will answer questions, provide information, and describe how the new program will benefit residents, Longmont, and the environment. Santos Appointed to National Board
Longmont City Council Member Gabe Santos has been appointed to the 15-member nominating committee that will be responsible for recommending a slate of officers and board members to lead National League of Cities (NLC) in 2017. The board members will be elected during the Annual Business Meeting at the City Summit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
Shred Your Private Documents for Free
Recycle personal documents safely and securely at this free event. Bring boxed or bagged papers to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street from 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday, November 5. Also bring ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill. This event is for residential documents only; business materials will not be accepted. Sales and Use Tax Seminar
Do you have questions about the business sales and use tax in Longmont? A free seminar that will answer all your questions will be held from 10 am to noon on Wednesday, November 9, in the Finance Conference Room at the Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street. The LDDA invites the community to an information session about the downtown master plan from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Monday, November 7, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. The event includes a presentation on global urban center trends followed by stations for residents to give feedback. Refreshments will be served. You’re invited to Colorado’s largest annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration from 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday, November 5, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. Most City Facilities Closed on Veterans Day
Longmont city government observes Veterans Day on Friday, November 11, as a holiday. The following facilities are CLOSED: Civic Center, Service Center, Library, Senior Center, Youth Center, Waste Diversion Center, and Development Services Center. The Longmont Museum and all recreation facilities will be open regular hours.

Longmont Public Library’s small business workshop series “Blazing the Trail to Small Business Success” continues with a program examining what the future holds for Longmont’s small business community from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, November 8, at 409 4th Avenue. The series offers workshops on the second Tuesday of every month in collaboration with the Longmont Economic Development Partnership and Coffee and Connections. Registration is not required.
