Wash Your Compost Bins the Right Way
As these hot, sunny days continue, you might be thinking about rinsing out your dirty compost bin. When washing compost bins, or when using a trash bin cleaning service, do not pour the wash water into road gutters or storm drains, as it can carry pollutants into our rivers and streams. Instead pour wash water directly into landscape areas or collect and dispose the water into indoor sink drains. If you’re using a soap or other cleaning products, look for one that is biodegradable or phosphate-free to help protect our water quality. Learn more about the importance of keeping our waterways clean at Keep It Clean online or call 303-441-1531.
