At this event, you can talk informally with Mayor Pro Tem Aren Rodriguez and Council Member Marcia Martin on any topic of your choice. Have questions? November ballot information
This November, City Council will be asking Longmont voters to approve the issuance of $20 million in storm drainage bonds to finance the next phase of the Resilient St. Vrain Project (RSVP). The RSVP is a multi-year project to fully restore the St. Vrain Greenway and improve the St. Vrain Creek channel to protect people, property and infrastructure from future flood risks. Additionally, voters will be asked to consider two changes to the Charter and one City Council At-Large position. One charter amendment would provide operational clarity and streamlining, and the other would allow for simultaneous elections. Learn more about all the ballot issues, including some arguments for and against, at LongmontColorado.gov/ballot.
Sister Cities seeks ambassadors, chaperones
Applications are available for students and adults interested in participating in the Longmont Sister Cities student exchange program. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in 8th-11th grade in a public, private or charter school within the St. Vrain Valley School District. Chaperones and student ambassadors have the opportunity to travel to one of Longmont’s sister cities in Japan, Mexico or the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming with a small group of the finest youth in the St. Vrain Valley School area. Visit longmontsistercities.com for more information and to fill out the online application. The deadlines are Oct. 15 for chaperones and Oct. 31 for ambassadors.
Jayme Stone: Live in Concert
Jayme Stone has performed throughout Boulder leading his band, Folklife. In this concert on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7 pm at the Longmont Museum, you’ll hear a different side of Jayme Stone: personal and introspective, disarmingly honest and even mournful, born from new experimentation with electronic sounds. Learn more and buy tickets at www.longmontmuseum.org or call 303-651-8374.
Strider Balance Bike Race

Share your public power video
A 30-second smartphone video on how you use Longmont’s public power could win you a $100 Downtown Longmont gift card in this year’s Public Power Week contest from Longmont Power & Communications. Just send in your video with the phrase “Longmont’s Power Lights Me Up” – you can be funny, smart, or even sweet so long as it’s family-friendly and shows what your community-owned electricity means to you. To enter, email your video or its link to LPC@longmontcolorado.gov or send it by private message to the Longmont Power & Communications Facebook page. All entries must be received by Oct. 8, and must be from an LPC customer. More details can be found at longmontcolorado.gov/publicpowerweek. Good luck!
