Coffee with Council is This Saturday 
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, September 28, at the Public Works facility, 375 Airport Road. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council Members Finley and Christensen are scheduled to attend. Learn How to Ride RTD 
The City of Longmont is sponsoring a free “How to Ride RTD” workshop from 6:30 to 8 pm on Tuesday, October 1, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. Learn about locating a stop; reading a schedule; selecting the best transit option; fares and passes; specialty rides such as SkyRide to DIA; Local, Limited, Regional and Express services; FlexRide; and how to access RTD transit by bicycle. Many Park Restrooms to Close for Winter 
Many park restrooms close in fall to prevent damage to above-ground plumbing. The City places portable toilets in several high traffic areas for use throughout the winter. See a complete closing schedule at bit.ly/park-restrooms. Park shelter reservations are not accepted for winter months, but shelters still can be used on a first-come, first-served basis. RTD to Host Service changes Meeting
RTD has scheduled a public meeting on Tuesday, October 1, at 6 pm at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road to discuss service changes to the Longmont/Denver (LD) buses proposed for January 12, 2020. The City of Longmont Launches New Online Resources for Planning and Development 
The City of Longmont has created a suite of online resources to clarify Planning and Development activities throughout the City. The Development Handbook is a comprehensive yet simple guide to Longmont’s Development process, guiding applicants through each step, from pre-application to Certificate of Occupancy. The Fee Manual is a compliment to the Handbook, listing fees related to most development projects. The Interactive Planning Map provides information such as locations of active developments in the City, parks, bike routes, school, Envision land uses, subdivisions in the city, zoning information and much more. Take boxed or bagged papers to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, October 5. Hear the Story of Lucile at the Library
From 7 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 10, Polly E. Bugros McLean will discuss her book “Remembering Lucile: A Virginia Family’s Rise from Slavery and a Legacy Forged a Mile High” at the Library, 409 4th Avenue. Mental Health and the Immigrant Experience
SAM L@tino (Supporting Action for Mental Health Latino Committee) will present “We Are Not Alone! Mental Health and the Immigrant Experience” from 5:30 to 8:30 pm on Friday, October 11, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. Mental health expert Sonia L. Liggins will identify the challenges faced by many immigrants and how they affect the mental health of our children, youth and families. An open discussion to share information to help better support Latino families in our community will follow. This event will be in Spanish with English interpretation.
