Work on Main Street Pavement Revs Up After Labor Day
Main Street Pavement Reconstruction work is on schedule to start on Tuesday, September 8. The initial area of focus will be along the east side of Main Street from 1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue. While work occurs along the east side of Main Street, all vehicular traffic will be shifted to the west side. The largest impact will be a reduction of two through travel lanes in each direction to 1 travel lane in each direction. Find more information at LongmontColorado.gov/FOSM or by calling the project hotline at (303) 774-FOSM.
Through October 16, RTD service will be detoured off Main Street between Longs Peak and Boston avenues to avoid congestion during construction. Southbound stops at 6th, 3rd, and 1st avenues will not be serviced. A temporary stop will be available at 6th and Coffman, and the detoured routes also will serve the 323 stop on 3rd Avenue at Coffman Street. The 324, BOLT, J, L, LX and LSX routes also are affected. See detour map at RTD’s Rider Alert web page.
Mosquito Spraying Ends in Longmont for 2015 Season
The number of mosquitoes that carry the West Nile Virus is decreasing, prompting the City of Longmont to end it’s adulticide spraying program for 2015. However, residents are urged to remain vigilant for the rest of the summer and fall by remembering the 4Ds:
1. Use DEET-enhanced insect repellent or alternative.
2. DRESS in long sleeves and pants.
3. Avoid the outdoors from DUSK until DAWN.
4. DRAIN standing water outside your home.
