Election Calls Claim to Represent City
Some Longmont residents report they are receiving phone calls that claim that the City of Longmont is gathering information on the upcoming November election. The City never conducts voter surveys on City Council candidates and residents should be aware that a pollster claiming to represent the City are false. For election information visit the City’s election web page.

Comment on Main Street Corridor Recommendations
The 12-month Main Street Corridor Planning effort is coming to a close. The project team is inviting the community to weigh in on draft recommendations related to land use and growth, transportation and safety, culture and history, and anticipated market needs. Please join us from 5:30 to 7 pm on Tuesday, September 10, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. There will be an overview presentation at 5:45 with an open house immediately following. Household Hazardous Chemical Drop-off
The City will host the annual Household Chemical Drop-off Day from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, September 7, at the Public Works facility, 375 Airport Road. Take your current City of Longmont utility bill to show that you’re a waste services customer. Accepted materials include cleaners, solvents, pesticides, aerosol cans, paint and other chemical wastes generated from homes. Items not accepted include commercial and business wastes, biological wastes, medical wastes, medicines, radioactive materials, compressed gas cylinders, explosives, fireworks, ammunition and fire extinguishers. Exercise Creative Muscles at the Library
Drop in on Tuesdays beginning September 10, and enjoy fun and creative art activities after school at the Library, 409 4th Avenue. Each week features a suggested project, and all supplies are provided to make it and take it home. This self-paced, self-directed activity is primarily for children in grades 3 through 6, but children of all ages are welcome. Children younger than 9 must be accompanied by a responsible caregiver, and no registration is required.

Strider Glider Biking for Preschoolers
Preschoolers are invited to Strider Glider balance biking from 9:30 to 10:30 am on select Wednesday mornings at the Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Avenue. Introduce your child to Strider bikes: we provide the gym and the bike (or bring your own), and you provide the instruction and supervision. Upcoming dates are September 11, October 9, November 13, and December 11. A limited number of loaner bikes are available. Call 303-651-8404 to register; $6 per rider.

Itty Bitty City Returns
Itty Bitty City returns on Fridays from 9 to 11 am, September 13 through November 22, at the St. Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Avenue. Children ages 6 months to 5 years have lots of room to run and play in the gym. Parents must supervise their children, and no older children, please. The cost is $3 per child or $24 for a 10-visit pass. No registration is needed for this drop-in program. 

Shred Your Private Documents for Free
Take boxed or bagged papers to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Friday, September 13. This is for residential documents only; no business documents accepted. Please also take ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill.
