Universal Recycling Ordinance Phase III
Universal Recycling Ordinance Phase III
[Dec. 30, 2024] – The third phase of Longmont’s Universal Recycling Ordinance (URO) will begin implementation on Jan. 1, 2025, requiring organics (composting) collection for food wholesalers, distributers, manufacturers and grocery stores.
Â
Our intention is to work alongside the commercial and multifamily sector to implement the URO. We know that some businesses will need additional guidance and time. The City has received feedback from businesses that financial assistance programs would help in getting started complying with the URO. The City is currently offering two methods of financial assistance: Zero Waste Coupons in partnership with Boulder County and CAReS Program Recycling Rebates for Tenants. To learn more about available URO Financial Assistance, visit bit.ly/URO-Financial-Assistance.Â
In addition to offering financial assistance and other support for compliance, commercial or multifamily properties that meet any qualifying conditions may qualify for an exemption. For more information on the URO, visit the City’s URO Information Website.
