UPDATE: Longmont City Facilities Closed to Public on Monday
The City of Longmont is extending its weekend closures of all public facilities into Monday.
“Longmont was hit with 8 to 10 inches of snow overnight,” City Manager Harold Dominguez said. “Although our City snow crews are doing a great job of clearing main drive lanes, the best thing to do is close our facilities to the public on Monday. That will help keep cars off the roads and allow the plows to continue to do their job.”
In addition to the approximately 10 inches of snow already on the ground, the City is expecting another 8 to 10 inches of accumulation on Sunday and Monday. Adding to the challenge is the expectation of high winds that will cause drifting making some local roads impassable.
“The best thing for the public to do is to stay off the roads,” Dominguez added.

Power Outages
Longmont Power and Communications (LPC) electric crews have been responding to scattered outages around Longmont since about 5 a.m. These are weather-related; as of now, LPC has probably seen 55 to 60 calls in that timeframe. Any residents that are experiencing an outage should call 303-651-8386 so that LPC crews can help them out as quickly and safely as possible. LPC has not yet seen any large-scale feeder outages (the sort that can affect hundreds of customers at a shot); all of these have been individual locations.
