Utility Work to Reduce Parking at Button Rock Preserve
Trailhead parking at Button Rock Preserve will be significantly limited from late winter through fall 2025 due to utility work. In addition, a section of N. St. Vrain Creek will also be closed to protect visitor safety.
Weather permitting, a water utility repair project is scheduled to begin at Button Rock Preserve in mid-February and will continue through September. As a result of this work, available parking will be reduced from approximately 60 spots to 20-30 on most days.
About 30 additional parking spots are available in the overflow parking area, located 0.9 miles to the north of trailhead parking on County Road 80. Visitors can park in designated overflow spaces and walk the road to the trailhead.
As County Road 80 is the sole access for a private neighborhood and serves as an emergency evacuation route, motorists may not idle vehicles or block traffic in the trailhead. Restrictions on parking in fire lanes will be strictly enforced.
A river closure, including the creek and creek banks, will be in effect near the parking lot for the duration of the project to protect public safety due to heavy equipment and construction activities. Closures will be posted and strictly enforced.
Please respect posted closures, carpool when possible, and plan your visit accordingly as the parking lot will fill early on weekends.
