Waterway Poses Safety Risk on St Vrain Creek

The City of Longmont issued an order effective today (5/26/17) at 10am closing the waterway on the St Vrain Creek from South Pratt Parkway to 119th Street. This is basically from Budget Home Center on the west side of town to the Sugar Mill on the east side of town.

The current construction of Dickens Farm Nature Area requires equipment and personnel to be in and near the water.  This equipment and the personnel associated with the construction pose a risk to a person engaged in any recreation activities in or on the St. Vrain Creek occurring on or near the construction site. The area is currently fenced off to the public and not to be accessed on foot. This order effectively closes access to the water until further notice.

Signage will be placed and those choosing to violate the directive will be ticketed.  Further questions should be directed to 303-651-8601.
