The Roosevelt Park Improvement project includes both a new playground and a new adult fitness course. The existing play area was installed over 30 years ago and will undergo a full replacement to alleviate safety concerns, expand play options and better utilize the space. The adult fitness course will be located near the stone shelter in the southwest corner of the park, with convenient access to the Longmont Senior Center. It will offer 5-7 pieces of equipment to target varying abilities and fitness objectives.
A small landscape project to improve an art piece located near the Senior Center entry will also be included in this project. While working closely with the AIPP administrator and parks operations department, the turf around the sculpture will be converted to a low maintenance landscape bed.
Status Update
Construction on the Roosevelt Park improvements is scheduled to begin on February 17, 2026. The work is anticipated to take approximately 3 months, depending on the weather. Other than the playground being offline, and some paths rerouted, the overall park will not be significantly impacted due to the construction.
Public Outreach
Public feedback was gathered in two phases. The first phase took place in June of 2024 with a survey to understand community needs for the adult fitness course. The second phase occurred in the fall of 2024 to connect with the community on playground design and features.
