Alex Bloom was born in Sweden in 1870 and came to the United States, settling in Longmont in 1901. He was engaged in building as a contractor from that time until he retired.

Alex Bloom, his wife Eva, and their two youngest sons were written up in the Longmont Ledger regarding their 3,000-mile automobile trip that took approximately five weeks and looped the country from Minnesota to Wyoming.
