Nicholas J. Grosjean was an early dentist of the area. He arrived in Longmont from Coburg, Ontario, Canada in 1904 with his new bride Mary Florence Craig Grosjean. He opened his offices at 520 4th Avenue. The Grosjeans resided at several locations during their married life together. In 1913, Mary Florence Grosjean passed away.

In 1919, Nicholas married Irene Donovan and moved directly into their new house at 321 Gay Street after a honeymoon trip to Colorado Springs.

Irene Martha Donovan, daughter of D.C. Donovan, was born in Longmont and attended schools in Longmont. Always a champion of the poor or needy, she continuously assisted in many humanitarian projects and carried on many private philanthropies in an anonymous way. One of her favorite organizations was "The Session," formed by a group of young girls of Longmont who have met continuously through probably 70 years.
