H.P. Nelson House
Name: H.P. Nelson House
Address: 306 Collyer St.
Landmark Designation: 1995
Construction Date: 1901
Architectural Style: Queen Anne
This home a particularly fine example of the small version of Queen Anne style which retains its architectural integrity. The fifth home to be built on the east side of Collyer in this block, this house represents the pattern of residences built on the east side by merchants and laborers prior to the building of more prosperous homes on the west side during the first decade of the 20th century.
Little information is known regarding the builders of the home, Hans Peter and Emma Nelson, however, it is known that Hans was a native of Copenhagen, Denmark who came to Boulder County in the mid 1880's. He farmed and worked for the Railroad, and in 1901 he and his wife built this home.
