J. Crawner House
Name: J. Crawner House
Address: 734 Baker St.
Landmark Designation: 1988
Construction Date: 1888 est.
Architectural Style: Queen Anne
This house is estimated to have been constructed in 1888 by J. Crawner, who purchased a water tap for the site during that year. No information has been found regarding J. Crawner, who evidently answered the Sears-Roebuck catalog ad and had the house built. Facing west in the 700 block of Baker Street, it has a unique location as well as being one of the early east side houses. This home appears to be typical of homes constructed by families of modest income, although larger than most homes constructed prior to the 1880's.
