Professor S. Dwight Arms, formerly of Salida College, was Presbyterian College's first principal, officially opening class on November 24, 1885. Arms also taught Latin for the college.

He married Adda B. Hunter on June 24, 1887 with Reverend N. Hunter, president of the college, officiating the ceremony. Miss. Hunter was a teacher with the Longmont public school system.

The college had financial hardship during it entire existence and records show that the Arm family moved to New York after the college closed.
