Bridge Rehabilitation: Hover St. Over Oligarchy Ditch
Project Overview
This project will rehabilitate the bridge that carries Hover St. over the Oligarchy Ditch in the northwest part of Longmont. The work includes replacing the approach roadway and joints on both ends, replacing the pedestrian railing, and replacing sidewalk panels. The result of this project will improve the driver experience, address sidewalk unevenness, and extend the service life of the bridge.
Project Status
Updated: September 24, 2026
This project starts October 2026 and is expected to be completed in Spring 2027.
- Traffic on Hover St. will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
- Construction will start on the southbound lanes. Traffic will be pushed to the northbound side of the roadway.
- The sidewalk on the west side of the bridge will be closed for the first phase of construction. Pedestrians travelling on the Oligarchy Ditch Trail will need to detour to continue east or to travel south on Hover.
Goals & Planned Improvements
The overall goal of this project is to extend the useful life of the bridge by targeting repairs on the elements of the structure that have deteriorated most. The majority of the work will take place on top of the bridge so the pedestrian underpass and the Oligarchy Ditch will not be affected.
Project Schedule
- The project is scheduled to start on October 5, 2026.
- Construction is expected to take six months.
- The project is anticipated to be complete in April 2027.
Pedestrian Detour
- When approaching Hover St from the west, travel north to safely cross Hover St at the 21st Ave. intersection.
- If you are traveling south, take the Oligarchy Ditch Trail west, turn south on Harvard St., east on 18th Ave and then back south onto Hover St.
