Project Overview
The City of Longmont will reconstruct the intersection of CO 119 (Ken Pratt Boulevard) and Sunset Street, to create safer experiences for vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians.
Improvements include:
-
- Bicycle lanes
- Updated crosswalk locations to increase visibility
- Left- and right- turn lanes at the intersection
- Protected left turns in all directions
Sunset Street between CO 119 and Boston Avenue will be repaved, and between CO 119 and Nelson Road, it will be restriped to add a center left turn lane. This reduces the number of travel lanes in each direction on Sunset Street to one, splitting into a left turn lane, a through lane, and right turn lane at the intersection with CO 119.
The project will also make safety improvements to the railroad crossing on Sunset Street next to the intersection, allowing for the eventual implementation of a quiet zone. Visit the Railroad Quiet Zones in Longmont webpage to learn more.
