The fences and green grass of dog park number one is seen with a partly cloudy sky in the background.

Plans are underway for renovations to Longmont’s Dog Park #1, located at the southeast corner of 21st Avenue and Francis Street.

Currently planned improvements include:

  • Providing ADA accessible access to the park from the Carr Park parking lot
  • Adding potable water filler with bowls and a dog washing station
  • Reconfiguring the boundaries of the big dog (2) and small dog play areas
  • Growing more grass and facilitating a phased rotation system to allow grass to regrow
  • Rerouting fencing to maintain water quality in drainage system

Project Update: Construction Paused at Dog Park #1

Construction at Dog Park #1 has been temporarily paused. Establishing new turf and installing a potable water source would require more water than is currently available under the City’s drought response measures. Thank you for your patience as we balance water conservation with park maintenance.

The City is operating under a Mild Drought Response Level and is reducing water use by 10% across parks, greenways, golf courses, trails, and open space. Available irrigation is being prioritized for active sports fields and parks nearing construction completion.
