Dry Creek Trail Extension - City of Longmont Skip to main content
This photo show the end of a concrete trail where the future dry creek park trail will be built. There is currently a sign indicating the trail's end.

Trail construction, way finding improvements, and roadway striping will extend the Dry Creek Trail from Hover Street east past Sunset Street to connect with Frontage Road. The project will construct an 8’ concrete path following the creek east of the Village at the Peaks to Sunset Way.

Way finding improvements will facilitate navigation from the existing trail through the Village at the Peaks to the new trail construction, highlighting crosswalks at street crossings and designating existing sidewalk as a shared bike route.

Roadway striping will continue to highlight the designated bike route from the trail construction at Sunset Way both north to Nelson Road and east to Sunset Street.

Project Status

The Dry Creek Trail Extension is completing the final design phase and will be prepared to go to bid in late Q1/early Q2 with construction expected to begin Q2 of 2026.

No trail or street closures are anticipated during construction of the concrete trail. Construction will occur between Monday-Friday from 7 am-6 pm. There may be times when work is required on the weekends due to weather and other factors.

Goals & Planned Improvements

The Dry Creek Trail Extension aims to create a bike route connection across a busy commercial area of Longmont. The trail extension will resolve a gap between the existing Dry Creek Trail and the St Vrain Greenway via South Sunset Street.
