Lifeguards and Pool Managers submit their monthly availability by the 10th, and schedules are posted by the 15th for the following month.

We use WhenToWork, a flexible scheduling system that lets you update your preferences week-to-week or month-to-month.

Swim Instructors will receive a form each season (January-May, June-August, September-December) to select which classes they’d like to teach.

Lifeguards are expected to work at least 15 hours per month (including 2 hours of mandatory training) during the school year. During the summer, Lifeguards are expected to work at least 60 hours a month (averaging 15 hours a week, vacations excluded). Hours can be combined across multiple Aquatics positions.

Swim Instructors are expected to teach at least 2 swim lesson sessions during the school year, and 4 swim lesson sessions throughout the summer.

Pool Managers are expected to work at least 3 weekend days per month.

We understand life happens! Communicate early with your manager—we can often make exceptions or pause your schedule until you’re ready to return.

There is an on-call Coordinator schedule that you can reach out to for support.

Nope! You can apply and interview first, then complete one of our certification courses at a highly discounted rate to receive the training you need for the job!

We start hiring for summer only staff during winter breaks. Our goal is to finish hiring the summer team by early May, so all staff have enough time to complete the background check and drug test to be cleared to work in time for summer pool orientations.

With our monthly scheduling, if you want to have your perfect summer schedule, you’ll need to be fully on the team before May 10, (the June schedule will be posted by May 15).   If you miss that deadline, you’ll still be able to work, you’ll just have to pick up available shifts.

Interviews are about 10–30 minutes. If you don’t yet have a certification, you’ll also complete a short water skills session.

Once you’re certified and have completed your background check and onboarding, you can begin work—starting with orientation!

Time off requested before schedules are posted will be approved. If your plans change after schedules are posted, you’ll need to find your own coverage. 

Yes—there’s parking at every location, including accessible spaces. Some lots may require a short walk when busy.

Lifeguards and Pool Managers: Primarily at the Longmont Recreation Center, with opportunities at Centennial Pool. During the summer, in addition to the indoor pools, enjoy working outdoors at Sunset Pool.

Lead Lifeguards:  Lead Lifeguards must be at least 16 years old and ready to work in smaller teams which require more independent thinking, confidence in their lifesaving skills, along with a focus on customer service.  Lead Lifeguards can work at all of the pools, and start earning $17/hr insteads of the Lifeguard rate of $16.43/hr.

School Year: 

• • Early mornings and Mon-Fri daytimes at the Longmont Recreation Center
  • 6am-9pm, Mon-Fri, and weekends at Centennial Pool.

Summer:

• Early mornings at the Longmont Recreation Center and Sunset Pool
• All day long, Mon-Sun, at Centennial Pool, Kanemoto & Roosevelt Activity Pools.

Union Reservoir Lifeguards:

Must be 16 years old, complete the American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard Certificaion (we can certify you in this, too!), and you can work at the Union Reservoir Swim Beach when it is open, Memorial Day through Labor Day.  Union Lifeguards also start at the higher $17/hr rate.

Swim Instructors: Centennial Pool and Longmont Recreation Center, with additional summer options at Sunset and Kanemoto Pools.

Shifts typically range 3–8 hours between 4:45 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., Monday–Sunday.

If you are a early bird and at least 16 years old, apply to work as a Lead Lifeguard, and start at $17/hr instead of $16.43/hr!

Our Longmont Swim Instructor (LSI) certification is perfect for new instructors and lets you teach preschool classes and swim team prep (if you can demonstrate all strokes). Longmont LSI certified wages start at $16.43/hr.

If you’re ready to teach a wider range of swim levels, the Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is a nationally recognized Red Cross credential that allows you to teach all levels and specialty classes. Longmont WSI certified wages start at $17.93/hr.
