Can’t Find What You’re Looking for? Try Interlibrary Loan!

The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service allows Library cardholders to borrow items from libraries nationwide.

What is available?

  • Books, audiobooks, periodical articles, and some newspapers on microform.
  • Some libraries will lend CDs and DVDs.
  • Access to items no longer published, regional items, and hard to find items.
  • Some articles and individual pages can be scanned and emailed directly to you.
  • In almost all cases, lending libraries do not lend their materials to borrowing libraries when the items have been published 12 months ago or less; therefore Longmont Public Library will not request these materials until they are at least 13 months old.

How does the Interlibrary Loan Service work?

Read our brief Interlibrary Loan Policy for all the details.

  • All patrons are limited to 25 ILL requests per year. Even if a request is unable to be filled, it still counts toward the limit.
  • ILL is available to all patrons with a standard adult resident or non-resident library card from Longmont Public Library.
  • ILL staff will notify patrons if requests are denied, and automatic notifications are issued once the item is ready for pickup.

NOTE: Due to changes with our Interlibrary Loan service provider, we will no longer be able to request items that we cannot acquire free of charge from lending institutions. We apologize for the inconvenience.
