PMP: Driveway Cut Program
Your property must be located within an area selected for street rehabilitation as part of the City’s annual Pavement Management Program. Each spring, the City notifies these property owners via mailed letter; those interested in the 50/50 Driveway Cut Cost Share Program are requested to inquire by March 16.
Not all properties will be eligible to participate in the program. Existing conditions such as landscaping, property frontage, driveway width/location, available right-of way and the slope of your existing driveway influence your eligibility and the City’s ability to install an ADA compliant driveway cut. In some cases, the City may determine that your driveway is not eligible or it is not possible to install an ADA compliant driveway cut within the confines of the 50/50 Program.
If conditions permit the installation of an eligible driveway cut, you may have the opportunity to choose which driveway cut (Type A or Type B) you would like. However, certain conditions may also limit your options. The project manager can assist in explaining what those limitations are.
Benefits
- offers residents a cost-effective way to upgrade their driveway accesses
- supports the City’s commitment to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Property owners with driveway access via steep-faced curb walk (Figure 1) have an opportunity to share equally with the City in costs to install an ADA compliant driveway cut (Figures 2 & 3).

Exact costs are contingent upon conditions at each driveway, so please consult with the project manager for more details. Payment must be received by the City before any work will be performed on the new driveway cut. Property owners must consent to conditions set forth by the City and in some cases may need to grant access to private property through the use of a Temporary Construction Easement. This additional information can be obtained from the project manager.
If you would like to inquire about your property’s eligibility with the 50/50 Driveway Cut Cost Share Program or have any questions, please contact Transportation.
