COPE - Citizens' Option to Provide Energy
Longmont’s COPE (Citizens' Option to Provide Energy) Program was established to provide direct emergency assistance to customers in times of crisis. It is a cooperative agreement between the City and the OUR Center. Specifically, COPE helps area residents pay past due utility bills when all other resources have been exhausted. Longmont utility customers donate to the program with either a one-time payment or a monthly contribution added to their utility bill. No administrative funds are taken out of donations; 100 percent of contributions are used for utility bill payments. Customers requesting assistance from the OUR Center are screened to ensure that their need is critical. Read an example of how COPE helped one family.
Residential customers: Sign up online for this neighbor-helping-neighbor program. Log in to your account, then select "Update Profile" in the upper right. The amount of your chosen monthly contribution will be billed on your next month’s utility bill.
If you prefer, you can make a one-time donation to C.O.P.E. when you pay your bill online.
Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday - Friday.
