Instructions on Submitting a Commercial Building Permit Application
Please note that at this time, online applications are not available. All submittals are required to be electronic.
Submitting a New Commercial / Multifamily Building Permit Application
To submit a new commercial or multifamily building permit application:

Download the application form/checklist and submittal guidelines.

Complete all required documents.

Email your PDF files to: building.inspection@longmontcolorado.gov

If your files are too large to email, you may send them through a cloud storage service such as OneDrive.

Organize your PDF files by design discipline (e.g., architectural, structural, MEP, soils, truss engineering).

Important:

Review the application/checklist and guidelines carefully before submitting.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

A plan review fee payment is required at the time of submittal, so a job valuation must be included.
Submitting a Commercial Remodel / Tenant Improvement Permit Application
To submit a commercial remodel or tenant improvement building permit application:

Download the application form/checklist and submittal guidelines.

Complete all required documents.

Email your application to: building.inspection@longmontcolorado.gov

Submit your construction drawings as one complete PDF set.
-
Submit all supporting documents (e.g., asbestos report, COM checks) as separate PDFs.

If your files are too large to email, you may send them through a cloud storage service such as OneDrive.

New Commercial Construction: 6–8 weeks and 3-4 weeks for resubmittals.

Yes. Under Colorado state requirements:

For any commercial permit with an occupancy load of 10 or more, drawings must be prepared and stamped by a state-licensed architect.

If the scope of work includes mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or structural systems, the drawings must also be stamped by a state-licensed engineer in the appropriate discipline.
