2026 National Electric Code Adoption:

Building Services is reviewing the changes to the 2026 National Electric Code (NEC) and will provide updates as to when the ordinance will go before City Council.

2024 Code Adoption:

The 2024 Codes, along with the Metro Cohort Model Code, will be before City Council on April 28, 2026. Building Services expects the codes to go into effect on July 1, 2026.

Adopted Codes

The City of Longmont has adopted the 2021 International Codes.  Effective January 1, 2022.

National Electrical Code, 2023 Edition

Adopted 07/24/2024 – Effective Date 07/24/2024, including appendices, published by the National Fire Protection Association, that code to have the same force and effect as if set forth in this chapter in every particular, save and except such portions as are deleted, modified, substituted or amended in this chapter.
