Applying for a Contractor’s License

Contractor licenses are good for one year from the issue date. A complete list of license types and descriptions can be found at List of Licenses Types and Descriptions
To complete the new license application process please take the following steps:

- Step 1:Â Gather Required Documents – Please find your license type below for a list of required documents (these will need to be uploaded to your application):Electrical –

- 1. Copies of current State of Colorado Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor license cards

- 2. A current certificate of insurance (see
General Contractor (A/B/C) –

- 1. A copy of the International Code Council (ICC) General Building Contractor certificate (A, B, or C)

- 2. Resume – This is a list of 10 –12 previous projects that support the license class. The list should include the project address, job description and a description of the work performed. Resumes are reviewed by the City’s Chief Building Official as part of the application process.

Accela Citizen Access (ACA) – The City of Longmont uses Accela Citizens Access (ACA) for online licensing, permitting, and inspections. The Accela system is created and produced by Accela. The City of Longmont maintains and customizes the program for public use.
