Children, Youth and Families offers internship programs for both undergraduate and graduate level students. 

Graduate Level Internship

Graduate students will gain hands-on and clinical experience working with high-risk youth (ages 11-17) and their families. Children, Youth & Families aims to empower community members, while promoting meaningful relationships and belongingness. Graduate students will receive training in using clinical, systemic, and multidisciplinary approaches. Additionally, graduate interns will be expected to explore and apply critical theories relevant to serving diverse, underserved, and high-risk populations.

First year graduate students will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to gain experience in case management, intake processes, assessment, counseling, and working with a community-based youth service team. Onsite supervision, guidance and ongoing clinical training is provided.

Second year or Advanced Placement graduate students will gain experience supporting clients with family, group, and milieu therapy, case management, intake processes and assessment. In addition have opportunities to work in a community-based youth service team collaborating on program development. Student will also be involved in all aspects of the agency, including helping to create and implement agency policy, team-wide trainings, and cross-training with other city programs. Onsite supervision, guidance and ongoing clinical training is provided.  

Undergraduate Level Internship 

Undergraduate level interns receive hands-on experience working with high-risk youth (ages 11-17) and their families. Students gain exposure to using, systemic, and multidisciplinary approaches. Students work directly with youth and provide support with prosocial programming. Additionally, students have the opportunity to gain experience in assessment and intake processes and to collaborate on various community-based projects.
