Retail Marijuana Licenses

Three types of marijuana licenses are allowed in Longmont: recreational marijuana store licenses, dual recreational/medical store licenses and, as of January 28, 2025, marijuana hospitality licenses, with or without sales. Stores that sell only medical marijuana are not allowed.

The City Clerk’s Office will announce an application window for the new category of marijuana hospitality licenses in the near future. Applications will be accepted during that time. In the meantime, anyone interested in applying can do a couple things:

1. Begin compiling the many documents required for a new application as defined in L.M.C. 6.70.100
2. Reach out to the City Clerk’s Office at (303) 651-8649 for additional information and to be put on a list to be notified once the application window is open

Applying for or Making Changes to a Marijuana License

The City Clerk’s Office accepts applications for all retail marijuana licensing activities allowed in the City.

Application Forms, checklists and Information can be emailed to anyone requesting the information.  Please call the City Clerk’s Office at (303) 651-8650.

Marijuana Licensing Authority (MLA) Agendas and Information can be found on the Agenda Management Portal. The MLA only holds called meetings.

History of Marijuana Regulation in Longmont

• On February 11, 2025, Longmont City Council approved a revised Fee Schedule for all marijuana licensing activities. Click here to view the resolution and fee schedule.
• On January 28, 2025, Longmont City Council approved Ordinance O-2025-15 allowing marijuana hospitality licenses, with or without sales. Click here to view the ordinance.
• On July 2, 2018, the Longmont Marijuana Authority issued the notice below which named the four businesses that were granted licenses to open marijuana establishments in Longmont. To view the order click the link below.
