History

Affolter Park is named after Frederick Affolter (1832-1895), a Swiss immigrant who settled in the St. Vrain Valley in 1862 and started a dairy farm. His 10 children all graduated from Longmont High School and attended college, becoming prominent residents in the area. Affolter Neighborhood Park was named in 1973 and developed in 1978.
