City Council Vision - City of Longmont Skip to main content

Longmont’s City Council has a vision for both people and places in Longmont’s future.

Council Vision – People

Longmont will be the world’s greatest village, where children are most fortunate to be born and raised, older adults are supported through their entire life journey, all people will have access to food and shelter, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive and feel they belong.

Council Vision – Place

Longmont’s quality of life and economic vitality includes safe mobility options that connect our community. We enjoy 100% renewable power while addressing the effects of climate change over time. There is a vibrant Main Street and a river corridor, stretching from the Sugar Mill to the Fairgrounds, that provides a residential, cultural and entertainment epicenter while sustainably respecting the natural environment.

Council Priorities

The picture below shows what is most important to the Longmont City Council. Using a building as a metaphor, the foundation of their work are core services, such as clean water, reliable electricity, and public safety that are delivered with equity and sustainability in mind.

Building on that foundation, Council recognizes that to be the best place to live, there needs to be housing for all, care and education for our young residents and solid ways to move around the city and region. They understand that we are part of the global climate change challenge, and must do our part to help.
