Retail Marijuana Licenses
Three types of marijuana licenses are allowed in Longmont: standalone recreational marijuana store licenses, dual recreational/medical store licenses, and delivery of medical marijuana. On January 28, 2025, marijuana hospitality licenses, with or without sales, were approved except that the associated code change to allow for public consumption in these locations was denied.Â

The City Clerk’s Office accepts applications for all retail marijuana licensing activities allowed in the City.

- On April 22, 2025, Longmont City Council considered an ordinance to implement marijuana hospitality licensing, including changes to: Section 9.40.040 LMC to allow smoking indoors; Section 6.70.105 to limit the size to a maximum of 5,000 sq. ft.; and Title 15 updates to the Table of Allowed Uses to codify the allowed zoning districts. The ordinance did not pass first reading and therefore died, leaving the changes necessary for implementation incomplete.
- On February 11, 2025, Longmont City Council approved a revised Fee Schedule for all marijuana licensing activities. Click here to view the resolution and fee schedule.
- On January 28, 2025, Longmont City Council approved Ordinance O-2025-15 allowing marijuana hospitality licenses, with or without sales. Click here to view the ordinance.

- On October 10, 2017, the Longmont City Council approved amendments to the Longmont Code or Ordinances regulating marijuana sales and established fees for the new license types.

Other Regulations for Personal Grows and Cultivation
The City of Longmont’s Marijuana Licensing Authority is the Municipal Judge for the City of Longmont.
All marijuana license applications, including renewals, should be filed with the City Clerk’s Office, 350 Kimbark Street, Longmont, CO 80501. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Meeting Time and Place
The Marijuana Licensing Authority does not schedule regular reoccurring meetings due to the limited number of marijuana business licenses within the City, but instead schedules meetings as needed.
