Awards and Honors
Longmont Power & Communications has been recognized a number of times for the high-quality service it provides the community. Some of these honors include:
The American Public Power Association has recognized LPC for exceptional electric reliability multiple times, most recently in 2024. Of the more than 2,000 not-for-profit community-owned utilities that make up the APPA, only 6% received this recognition.
LPC has received the RP3 award from the American Public Power Association since 2006, when it became the first utility in Colorado to receive the honor. To be recognized, a utility must excel in reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvements.
The SolSmart awards, which are funded by the U.S Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative, recognize communities that are “open for solar business.” LPC received a gold designation in 2020 for its work in reducing the “soft costs” and administrative hurdles of going solar.
LPC has been recognized as a Smart Energy Provider ever since the program’s initiation in 2019. The APPA awards the designation to utilities that show commitment to and proficiency in efficiency, distributed energy resources, renewable energy, and environmental initiatives.
