Wind Power
Note to customers: The City of Longmont is considering an adjustment to solar energy credits, as well as a lowered cost for the Renewable Power Purchase Program. Please see the proposed City Council ordinance for more information.)
Renewable Power Purchase Program
Longmont’s renewable energy is purchased from Platte River Power Authority, our wholesale electricity provider. Platte River acquires renewable energy from a variety of sources, including wind energy generated at sites located north of Platte River’s Rawhide Energy Station, as well as solar energy generated on land adjacent to the energy station and other locations.
More information on these renewable sources can be found on Platte River’s website.
The energy delivered to Longmont from Platte River Power Authority is increasingly generated by renewable resources, including hydroelectric, wind, and solar power. For those customers who want to further support renewable electric energy, LPC offers the Renewable Power Purchase Program for an additional subscription cost. Subscribers must commit to the program for a minimum of 12 months. To get started, fill out a Renewable Power Purchase Program application form.
