Longmont has reached a 28K to be proud of.

Just to be clear, this isn’t about celebrating a very long race. Or a very small computer file. Or a fastball pitcher who’s racked up strikeouts by the boatload. (Though if you happen to find a hurler like that, kindly call the Colorado Rockies.)

No, today we’re celebrating a new milestone: NextLight has reached 28,000 customers. And counting.

That’s 28,000 homes and businesses that now receive NextLight’s high-speed fiber-optic internet service. Or put another way, about two-thirds of the community has chosen internet that is provided by Longmont, for Longmont.

That’s rapid growth for a local network that got its start just 10 years ago. And that growth would not have been possible without the enthusiastic support of the Longmont community.

That support has allowed our customers to keep receiving fantastic service with local support. It’s allowed us to offer discounts for struggling households and support for Longmont non-profits. And it’s continued to keep us on track to pay off NextLight’s construction bond in 2029, allowing even more resources to be invested in the community.

And it’s all because of all of you, the people who keep putting NextLight to use every day and showing what it can do.

We’re excited. And grateful.
