A Powerful Commitment (More Power to You blog)

Some facts just give you a warm glow. Literally.

In this case, the facts come from the American Public Power Association. Their latest ratings found that a typical Longmont electrical customer can go two years without seeing a power outage. And that when an outage happens, the crews typically have the lights back on in about 42 minutes.

That means most of the time you don’t even have to think about your electricity. Which means you can keep running your appliances … or your business … or that streaming show you’ve been dying to watch. Flip a switch and off you go.

It sounds simple. But a lot goes into keeping the lights on, whether it’s the floodlights at the football game or your bedside reading lamp. It means making regular repairs, replacements and upgrades to the electric system. It means keeping well-trained crews ready to go against all the challenges that Colorado can produce. Like high winds. Or hungry squirrels. Or an off-course driver that’s just knocked down a power pole.

It takes attention. Investment. And a lot of planning. All focused keeping life normal for you. (Or as normal as it ever gets in Boulder County.)

When those rare interruptions happen, don’t forget:

  • If you experience an outage, call us at 303-651-8386 or 303-776-0011 so that our crews can get you back on as quickly and safely as possible.
  • For outages that affect a large number of customers, you can always check our Facebook page for information and updates.
  • If you see a power line that’s broken or has a tree branch on it, call us to take care of it and make sure you STAY AWAY from it. Broken lines can energize the ground for 35 feet in every direction.

Again, most of the time you won’t have to think about this. But when you do, we’ll be there.

It’s how we lighten your day.
