Community Input Sought for Dog Park #1 Renovations
Plans are underway for renovations to Longmont’s Dog Park #1, located at the southeast corner of 21st Avenue and Francis Street. Public feedback on the project is requested.
Currently planned improvements include:
- Providing an ADA accessible entrance to the park at the NE corner, nearest the Carr Park parking lot
- Adding a watering station to fill dog bowls with potable water
- Constructing an additional shelter on the east side of the park
- Reconfiguring the boundaries of the big dog (2) and small dog play areas
- Growing more grass and facilitating a phased rotation system to allow grass to regrow
- Rerouting fencing to maintain water quality in drainage system
“Our design team is in place, and we are very excited to proceed with improvements to Dog Park #1,” said City of Longmont Senior Project Manager, Trish Kurnik. “We have created a survey to provide an opportunity for community members to share their input. What’d we’d like to know is this: If we could add one more feature to the planned improvements, what would YOU like it to be?”
All community members are invited to take the survey at bit.ly/longmont-dog-1. The survey will close at 5 pm on Friday, May 23.
Work on the park is scheduled to begin by the end of 2025 and be completed by spring 2026.
