Connecting Community (Full Speed Ahead blog)
When it comes to community internet, the “community” part matters.
For example, it’s well-known that Longmont loves its NextLight internet … and no wonder. Homes put that great fiber speed to work for movies, gaming, even photography. Businesses praise its reliability over and over again, whether it’s for a café, a towing company, a martial arts school, or even a large tech company.
But Longmont residents don’t just benefit when they go online. They also get a NextLight boost when driving down the street. Or going to school. Or even when going to a festival like Day of the Dead. It’s a different kind of connection – one that’s not always measured in gigabits, but is no less real.
If you’re curious, look around. You might just see NextLight helping out …
- Your City services: NextLight pays a portion of what it makes into the City’s general fund as a franchise fee. That means your youth and senior services, your firefighters, your library and much more are all getting a little extra help from NextLight.
- Your festivals: On average, NextLight supports more than 20 Longmont events every year, including favorites like Unity in the Community, the Fourth of July drone show or Colorado’s longest-standing Day of the Dead celebration.
- Your traffic lights: Our crews have helped improve response times for Longmont traffic signals, making your wait at the intersection just a little bit shorter.
- Your schools: The St. Vrain Valley School District was one of the first-ever NextLight customers and works with us today to help provide free Wifi to qualifying free and reduced-lunch students.
- You! Our customer sales and service reps, tech support folks and field techs are right here in Longmont, so when you need help, you get to talk to someone across town – not across the globe.
So the next time you see a NextLight van going by, or a NextLight employee at a community event, feel free to wave or say hi.
That’s our favorite community connection of them all.
